Phone Prospecting 101

I suspect the number one question most people will get asked when they start speaking to a prospect is “how much do you make?”
It is a horrible question unless you are making plenty of money and no one starting a business will ever be in that position, so how do you answer it or better yet make sure it doesn’t get asked in the first place.
There are a few techniques to use that will certainly lower the chances that you get put on the spot…
1.Present yourself as a leader and an expert and make sure that they understand they need you rather than you needing them.
2. Never bring up income claims yourself unless you can verify them and definitely stay away from making company income claims. Your prospect wants to know how much he/she can make not how much your up line leader made while on a cruise last week.
3. Keep the focus on them, this should be your aim anyway. Spend your time on what help they need and what their goals and desires may be and how they feel you can help them.
Now of course you still may be asked the question so how should you reply to it…
Your answer will depend on the situation but in general what you need to do is again put the emphasis back onto them by saying
“ we are talking about how we can get money going into your account and not mine”.
Or
“at the moment I am building just like you will be soon and my income is growing week by week(if that’s true). This is due to the group/organization I am in that provides the training and education you are going to get with us so you will soon be making an income as well”.
Or simply
“I am being taught by people who earn 6 and 7 figures monthly, they are the same ones who will be teaching you so my income is growing just as yours will too”.
I am sure you get the idea, do not be confrontational and certainly never make false claims. Rather make sure you lead with a sense of leadership and the value they will get from being part of your group.
Place particular importance on the training and education side of your opportunity (you have to have one because that is what people are looking for more and more) and make sure they know that you are going to directly involved with them from the start.
So you can see that you can avoid the question, to be honest if a prospect places to much importance on the money side it will be better to avoid them anyway.
